How to customize your thumbnail image in WordPress

header_thumbnailsI was asked the other day on Twitter about how to customize a thumbnail image in WordPress. If you’ve been on WordPress much and have a site that dynamically resizes your photos for different purposes you’ve probably had an image cropped quite awkwardly. It’s happened to me quite a bit but I never took the time to actually figure out how to change my thumbnail crops to avoid problems.

The question last week made me realize I probably should take the time to learn and share.

Typically, when I’m posed with a question I don’t know, I first turn to my students who generally know the answer. It was a great way to start my day, I became the student and the student became the teacher. Here’s what I learned about customizing thumbnail images in WordPress posts.
