You can record multiple videos at the same time on an iPhone with FiLMic’s Double Take app

A week or so ago I saw Mark Murray share a post about this app and I had to give it a look.

I checked out the video and it seemed pretty cool. Use your iPhone and FiLMic’s Double Take app to record multiple videos of the same scene at the same time. I was immediately impressed.

All week I’d been working to teach my intro broadcasting students about capturing a wide shot of a scene, then capturing a medium one, then grabbing a tight one, and then working to edit them into something that looks good. For action that’s repetitive, this is fairly easy to do, but for most events it’s difficult to cut together a sequence that looks like it goes together without utilizing multiple cameras. This app seemed to solve some of those problems.

I only have an Xs Max, so while I wasn’t able to get four videos to record at once, it did work for three at a time and it is pretty great.

It’s something I’ll definitely be sharing with my students in class this week.

You can find the free Double Take app here in the iOS app store.
