Here’s a nice walkthrough of setting up and using Adobe Audition for recording and editing a podcast. In it, you’ll notice that Audition has a Podcast template built into its Multitrack Session option that you’ll likely want to select.

Matthew does a nice job giving an overview of opening, editing and exporting and the video should offer a nice starting point for you if you’re new to the program.
