Need some virtual learning? New Unit Available: Making Sense of the Coronavirus Through Media Making

If you’re like many of us, you’re moving to online learning after your school closed to slow the spread of COVID-19. PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs just published a new unit that gives you and your students the power to take action and report from your own community.

There are three pathways in the resource that allow you and your students to tailor their coverage to match their abilities, resources and interests. It’s a living document, so it will be updated with more resources and your suggestions.

Julie Tiedens is a high school journalism and English teacher at Black River Falls High School, a school of 500 students in rural Wisconsin. She advises the student online newspaper, a daily announcements show, the yearbook and a PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs school site.
