Flipboard Mags for Portfolios and Inspiration

This year I tried something new for their end of the year portfolio and inspiration assignments. I had them create a Flipboard Mag of their best work and add a few stories from professional sources that they could use as inspirations or models.

The big trick is just getting them to add the Flip It Chrome extension to their Chrome browser.  After they add the little red button they can flip in any story on web into their magazine.  I liked this better than turning in a website of their work as other students could read through other students’ magazines.  I still require editors to have a website portfolio site, but for the average staffer this saved a few headaches.
