Digital Media Courses:
Online Publishing – Students will create a plan for a news Web site. They’ll consider overall organization, site navigation, types of content and how they want the site to be used and by whom. They’ll consider staff organization and the role of a Web site for a student news organization. Students will use Word Press to create their sites and practice generating and posting content.
Video Editing – Designed to be an all levels based video for photography students. In this class the students will plan, shoot and edit a video story for a variety of web style videos. Featured topics will include everything from basic camera operation to advanced storytelling editing. The students will need photography experience, but not video.
Advanced Photography – This class, which is taught by Mike McLean, is geared to the advanced student photographer who has worked as a photographer for their publication for a year or more. This class will emphasize traditional visual storytelling skills. In this class students will be exposed using a digital camera meter in difficult lighting situations, advanced compositional guidelines, developing effective photo assignments, covering assignment strategies, image selection skills, Photoshop for photojournalist and setting up an productive workflow. Students will also learn techniques on taking your flash to the next level using sync cords and wireless remotes. Students in this class also will be participating in a group demonstration on using wireless flash trigger to cover HS assignments.
