Social Media Tip of the Week: Use a different app on your phone for different Twitter accounts

If you have a couple of different Twitter accounts, odds are high that you’ve accidentally posted a message to one account that you meant to post on a different one. Most of the time you realize it immediately after posting the message. You begin to sweat and your fingers all turn into thumbs as you quickly try to delete the post.

One thing I encourage social media staffers to do when possible is use different applications for different accounts. This doesn’t work for all social platforms, but it does for some. For instance, they could use the Twitter app for their personal Twitter account and use Hootsuite for their staff Twitter account. By having separate apps, it makes it much more likely that you’re going to make sure your message hits the correct audience.
