2018 Korva Coleman Excellence Awards for Digital Media now accepting entries

SPOT 127 is now accepting entries for the 2018 Korva Coleman Excellence Awards! This national award recognizes outstanding digital media produced by high school and undergraduate students ages 14-23. Winners receive a $1,000 scholarship, an engraved award and a trip to Phoenix to meet NPR’s Korva Coleman at the awards ceremony on April 6, 2018.
We invite students to submit digital journalism pieces in the categories of audio, video and multimedia storytelling. The deadline for entries is January 31, and there is no entry fee. All entries must have been published online between Jan.1 – Dec. 31, 2017Entries can be submitted online here, or visit spot127.org for more information.
SPOT 127 is the youth media center of KJZZ 91.5 FM, the NPR affiliate in Phoenix. We are a free educational outreach program that provides high school students with mentoring and instruction in multimedia production. We established the Korva Coleman Excellence Awards in 2013 in honor of Coleman, an NPR newscaster who grew up in west Phoenix near where our center is located.
