WordPress updated last week to version 4.8. While there were a few things updated (you can read all about them here) the thing that I believe will benefit high school web staffs most are some of the updates in the widgets area.

For starters, the Text widget now has a visual editor built in to make it easier for users to add and format content in Text widget areas. Images can be added easily to Text widgets as well without users having to know code. For those who can code, there is a text tab, along with the visual tab in the Text widget, to still allow users to code directly into the Text widget.

The Text widget has always been a nice multi-use widget in WordPress and this update makes it all the more user-friendly and accessible to the masses.
