My 2017 J Teacher Resolution: Getting More Journalistic Video with Flipboard Inspiration and Adobe Spark

For 2017, one of my goals is to challenge my students to produce higher quality journalism videos. About five years ago, I gave myself five years to get video going or fully incorporated into the production cycle. It hasn’t been a steady climb upward, but more of a roller coaster based on student interest and abilities.

To get inspired for 2017 I did make the following Flipboard magazine and will be incorporating lessons on b roll, editing, using lower thirds, adding logos or branding, and doing voice overs.  Also, I encouraged students to download the Spark Post and Spark Video apps to create text on images and videos.

Jonathan, thanks for the validation that introducing video is more a roller coaster than a smooth transition. My experience has been similar. Also, thanks for the tip about Adobe Spark!

No problem. The ebbs and flows are crazy. Hoping to get more students involved so it is more steady.
