Run MAMP with Word Press locally, without access to a server

MAMP— Macintosh, Apache, MySQL and PHP–installs a local server environment on Mac OS X computers.

Consider installing this free software program (or a paid version) on each staff lab computer to allow students to experiment with Word Press without having any impact on server files.  It’s a safe zone for learners (and teachers)!

Students can experiment with their own Word Press themes, site development, posts, image uploads, and so on.  Then, when it comes to their working on a live site, they are much more versed in how the site is working.

Also, it offers a private space to develop a site without anybody else being able to view it. A new site developed with MAMP can be converted from private to public when the creator is ready to launch it.  Otherwise, it’s operating on a local computer only.
